Data Usage Policy

Ethical Data Usage Policy for ParkoPlay

1. Introduction
This policy outlines ParkoPlay’s commitment to ethical data usage, guiding how we handle and process data, including both personal and non-personal information. It ensures that data processing is conducted with transparency, respect for privacy, and in compliance with relevant laws and ethical standards. This policy applies to all data processing activities carried out by ParkoPlay, including when we design, purchase, or implement new technologies for data processing.

2. Principles for Data Ethics
When ParkoPlay processes data or designs, purchases, or implements technologies for data processing, we adhere to the following principles:

  • Legality
All data processing activities shall comply with applicable laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Personal data shall be processed only when there is a clear legal basis for doing so.
  • Ethical Design
Technologies designed to process data, particularly new or emerging technologies, must align with ethical standards, including the principles laid out in this policy. The design of such technologies ensures that personal data is handled in a lawful and ethical manner, with proper measures in place for data deletion in line with retention periods.
  • Expectations
Data shall be processed in ways that reflect the intentions and understanding of the data subjects. We will not process personal data for new purposes that deviate from the original purpose of collection unless we obtain explicit consent or there is a legitimate reason for the new processing activity.
  • Security
We will implement strong security measures to protect data. Both technical and organizational security measures will be established based on the results of risk assessments, tailored to the specific processing activities and technologies used.
  • Respect for Human Rights
Data processing and technologies must ensure the protection of human rights. We will take special care to avoid any discriminatory, marginalizing, or stigmatizing effects. Any potential bias in the use of data or technology will be identified and mitigated.
  • Proportionality
Data shall be used only for purposes that are proportional to the rights of individuals, particularly their right to privacy. We will minimize the data used to what is necessary and ensure its use is in line with ethical expectations.

3. Use of Data
ParkoPlay is primarily focused on the development, production, and sale of park equipment and related services, catering to business-to-business relationships. As such, we generally possess business-related data, including contact information for partners and stakeholders.

We also handle sensitive information, including incident reports, which may contain health data related to adults and children. When processing such information, we ensure its confidentiality and take special care to protect the vulnerable nature of children’s data. Such data will not be disclosed to third parties unless absolutely necessary and in full compliance with applicable laws.

ParkoPlay uses data to improve our products and services based on research from the ParkoPlay Research Institute, which investigates how children engage with park equipment and the broader impact of outdoor play on well-being. We ensure that data for research purposes is collected from voluntary participants and is anonymized before being shared with third parties.

Employees and children are provided with additional protection when their data is used, and extra consideration is given to ensure that the privacy of these groups is always safeguarded.

4. Use of New Technology and Profiling
When considering the introduction of new technologies or the profiling of individuals for the purposes of marketing, product development, or data analysis, the principles outlined in this policy will always be adhered to. Ethical considerations will be central to the design and implementation process.

5. Training of Employees
ParkoPlay ensures that all employees involved in data processing activities or in the design and implementation of technologies for data use are regularly trained on the ethical principles in this policy. Employees will receive training on how to apply these principles to their work and ensure compliance with data protection laws.

Employees identified as needing additional training will receive targeted education to ensure they understand and can properly implement the ethical standards for data usage. This policy will be readily available to all employees.

6. Responsibility
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ParkoPlay is responsible for overseeing compliance with this policy and ensuring that all data processing activities align with the ethical standards set forth. Any breaches or concerns about compliance should be reported immediately.

7. Questions
Any questions regarding this policy or ethical data usage may be addressed to ParkoPlay’s Data Protection Officer or the relevant department within the company.
